In the Donguibogam, a Korean book on herbal medicine, ginseng was used as an important oriental medicine and recorded as 'Shincho', meaning herb of the gods. Hwang Jini, known as the most beautiful woman of the Joseon Dynasty, used ginseng decoction as bath water.
